We are left wondering...is Spring on it's way or are there 6 more weeks of winter weather?
Groundhogs Hal, Mel and Phil had conflicting reports on February 2!
We'll just have to wait and see who was right!
In our classroom we are 'tunneling' around the room just like lil' groundhogs looking for our shadows!
We even made pop-up furry lil' groundhogs that can peek out or slide back in to hibernate!

The letter 'P' will excite us to make Penguins and Polar Bears!
We'll enjoy eating Pasta and Pineapples and make our own P-I-Z-Z-A!

We'll put 5 Little Snowmen in our counting book and make some small, medium and large snowmen for our classroom!
We'll use "snow" (shaving cream and glitter) to decorate with!!

Our Open House is on Saturday, February 9 from 11-1PM!
Come one, Come all!
We will be baking refreshments all week for you to taste while you have FUN making a craft... getting a tatoo or your face painted...playing with play-doh...painting a picture or cutting and gluing a Valentine!

They'll cut up Newspapers to make a Nice collage!
They'll go outside and collect bits of winter Nature to build a Nest for the birds that didn't migrate!
They'll trace their Names, of course!

The childen should bring in their favorite bear to 'hibernate' and wear their favorite p.j.'s!
We'll make pancakes and porridge and put 3 bears in our counting book!
There are so many wonderful Bear stories to read and listen too that we'll let the kids take home a bear to care for and their favorite book!

We'll turn the letter M into a mouse this week!

We'll put 2 mittens in our counting book and hang them from "The Mitten Tree" in our classroom!

We'll learn about migration--the birds flying south for the winter where it is warm!
We'll make bird feeders for the brave birds that stay here to help feed them!

We'll learn about Martin Luther King Jr. and how he had a dream that we should all live in PEACE!

At Community Preschool we are all different but we are all friends who get along!

Welcome 2013...Welcome Winter!

We are off to a wintery start of this new year!
We are dressing bears and gingerbread kids in winter clothing for our bulletin boards!
We are up to letters K-ites and L-ollipops!
We will start a winter counting book...1 snowflake...2 mittens...3 bears...etc!
We put "snow" on our seasonal trees and made "snow" dough!
We are enjoying the great outdoors looking for ice and remains of some snow!
Winter and science at it's best watching the children fill their pails with ice and snow!...hence the need for mittens/gloves, scarves and hats!
Happy, Healthy New Year to our wonderful preschool families!
