This week the 2 year old class was introduced to the letter X.
The children marble painted paper umbrellas. Then we added cellophane
to the top of the umbrellas.  What a nice window decoration this craft became.
We celebrated "Opening Day" for Major League Baseball.  The children
looked so cute wearing their favorite baseball team colors.  The children
made paper baseball bats and balls. The teachers made a graph asking
the children who their favorite team was.We also made
delicious pretzels to eat at snack time.  They were yummy!!
Our classroom looks so pretty and bright with our Springtime theme.
There are kites flying, colorful easter eggs popping out of a giant basket, and cuddly
and cute lambs.  We are all looking forward to the warmer weather.

2 yr old class

This past week the 2 yr old class was introduced to the letter V.  They glued pictures
starting with the letter V onto a popsicle stick.
During circle time we discuss the weather, colors of the children's clothing, guess which
of our little classmates haven't arrived to class yet,and sing finger
play songs.  We also read a daily book, and review the classroom rules.
The children marble painted colorful paper kites, that went soaring through our classroom.
The class celebrated St. Patrick's Day by having their little green handprints pressed on a
shamrock.
The weather was so nice that the children were able to play outdoors.  They
were very happy and excited!

2 year old week of 3/8/11

In our two year old class we continued with our Nursery Rhymes.  The children used
a small rectangular sponge and dipped it in red paint to create a brick wall on tan
colored paper.  Then they glued an oval shaped egg to the top of the wall.  A face, arms
and legs were added to make "Humpty Dumpty" smiling.  This craft came out so adorable.
The letter "U" was introduced.  The children used a popsicle stick to glue their letter on,
and added pictures starting with that letter.
We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by reading the story "Green Eggs and Ham".  We
enjoyed eating green eggs and ham for snack too. It was yummy!
For our craft  we made a Dr Seuss hat.  The children made a pattern sequence by adding
red and white strips to the top of the hat.  We added a picture of "Sam I Am" to the hat too.
Our thumbprint number books were finally completed.  The books will be ready for release
in about a week.
We enjoyed the great outdoors this week as well.  Spring is just around the corner. Hooray!!
Learning and playing at our preschool is so much fun!!!!

2year old class

The 2 year old class started the month of March off  by making a Lion/Lamb mask.
The children looked so fierce as a lion, and so sweet as a lamb. We discussed how the
March weather could change from day to day.
We have begun our month of Nursery Rhymes too. The children each made a paper clock as a craft,
for "Hickory, Dickory Dock". We continued to add a new
number to our thumbprint counting book. It's coming out so adorable!
The letter of the week was "T'' . So each child glued the letter to a popsicle stick
and then glued pictures beginning with that letter, on the letter itself.
We read 2 great books this week.  "I Love You" and  Dr. Seuss' "Old Hat, New Hat".
Playing outside was so refreshing to the children. They do enjoy spending time outdoors.
 We had a great week!!!!

community preschool

Dr. Seuss is on the loose in our classrooms!   We'll make Seuss hats...we'll make Thing 1 and Thing 2 with our hands...and of course...we'll make Green Eggs and Ham!  We'll see who likes them like 'Sam I Am'  after reading the story!  We'll read and rhyme with as many Dr.Suess books as we can--we're inviting our parents in to help us read even more!

We continue watching and graphing March's wild weather...so far 3 lions to 2 lambs!!
We started another counting book with 1 shining sun...hoping for warm sunny days ahead!

Be on the lookout for life size paintings of the children hanging in the classrooms!  Oh what fun they'll have as they create their little selves and get hands-on full of paint!  (please dress them for mess!)
